The 2010 Harbour City Half Marathon will be held on the Sunday, September 5th. The race is adopting a brand new theme which holds some very interesting history for Nanaimo. The theme as you can see from the below logo is a "PIRATE" theme and all finishers of the race will receive a souvenir coin/finishers medal from the Harbour City Half treasure chest after they cross the finish line. Cemetery and Historical Pub Tours with the NanaimoMuseum: Summer Tours start this week at the NanaimoMuseum. The Historical Pub tours takes participants on a historical walk through downtown Nanaimo and the Old City Quarter with brief stops at three of Nanaimo’s oldest drinking establishments. All participants must be at least 19 years of age. Pub Tour Dates: Monday August 23. The Cemetery Tours takes participants through one of Nanaimo’s Cemeteries to discover the story behind Nanaimo’s past residents. Meet at the Howard St entrance to the NanaimoCemetery. Alison Crowe comes home for a rare Summertime performance at 7:30 pm at St. Andrew’s UnitedChurch. It’s a special event fundraiser for the church’s “Catch the Spirit” campaign designed to raise much-needed capital to restore the historic and beautiful building - home to many community groups.
